Dalhousie Nature Study Camp

The Nature Study Camp was organized for the 6th year in succession at Youth Hostel Dalhousie. Seven hundred and eighty-nine participants took part in this camp (an increase of 28.71 % compared to last year). They were from seven States as per details below.

As usual VIPS were invited for the valedictory functions of all the batches.

Programme Schedule:-Dalhousie Nature Study Camp

Day – 1 – Reporting
Day – 2 – Trek to Baddanallah, River Crossing and trek back to
Youth Hostel.
Day – 3 – Drop by bus at Dainkund. Trek to Joth. Back to Youth
Hostel by bus via Khajjiar.
Day – 4 – Drop at Lakharmandi by bus. Trek to Kalatop and back
to Youth Hostel via jungle route.
Day – 5 – Trek to Panchpulla. Rappelling and trek back to Youth
Hostel.
Day – 6 – Depart after breakfast.

Painting competition was held for all the groups and medals were given as prizes to the 1st ,2nd and 3rd place winners.

Two local guides accompanied the group daily (from the 6th batch onwards a home guard also accompanied them). River Crossing and Rappelling was done by a local instructor by name Gautam Walia. He is trained through the Mountaineering Institute at Manali.

The whole programme received very good coverage in the Print and Electronic media.
